Teaching grounded in reflection, connection, and applied learning.

I teach with the belief that education should be both rigorous and deeply human, and aim to create an academic environment that feels both intellectually alive and emotionally safe.

My teaching bridges research and clinical practice, helping students connect theory to real-world application while fostering ongoing self-reflection about their values, biases, and professional growth

What Students Are Saying

“I just wanted to reach out because I never formally thanked you for being one of my most influential professors at BC. You not only inspired me and showed me an amazing example of a professional in the social work field, but also how to show up as a human for others. For this, I am extremely grateful to you.”

“Thank you for teaching CBT in such a thoughtful and respectful way. I truly appreciate how you emphasized its application within underrepresented communities, making the material not only relevant but also empowering.”

“I really enjoyed being in your class and I truly feel it has been the most helpful class I've taken. I really appreciate you making time not only for course content, but also for discussion about what it's like being a clinician out there in the real world. I felt like I could ask any question in your class and I know my classmates felt the same.”

“Julia was one of the best professors I have ever had in the program, I would consider anyone who has her lucky to learn under her.”

“Julia is one of the best professors I have had at BCSSW and she effectively cultivated a space where everyone felt that they could share and participate in the class discussions.”

“Julia is the best. It was so refreshing to have such a passionate, engaged, honest, and encouraging professor. It's evident that she wants to be in the classroom with us, genuinely wanted us to learn and do well. I know it was her first year teaching, but she is one of the best professors I've had in grad school. This class was awesome.”

“Julia has a clear passion for working towards deeply understanding her clients, which is evident in her passion for teaching this course. She has gone above and beyond to help students learn and grow as clinicians, and I hope she continues teaching this course so that other students can benefit from her wisdom/experience and passion for social work.”
